We are proud to announce that one of the projects Alex worked on last year, Global Entrepreneurship Week UK,  has been recognised as the Country of the Year at the prestigious Global Entrepreneurship Congress held in Moscow.

The campaign, hosted by Youth Business International in partnership with Barclays, fought off competition from 130 nations to win the award.

Youth Business International has run the campaign in the UK since 2011, and via its global network also runs the campaign in 10 other countries, including Canada, Uganda and Ukraine.“There were a number of exceptional and inspirational campaigns hard at work building their entrepreneurial ecosystems,” said Jonathan Ortmans, president of Global Entrepreneurship Week. “At the end of the day, the UK team stood out for the work it did in empowering and connecting current and aspiring entrepreneurs with resources to help them succeed.”

The Country of the Year Award is given to the Host who runs the best overall Global Entrepreneurship Week Campaign. Past winners have included Cape Verde, Turkey, The Netherlands, Canada and Brazil. Last year, the UK campaign took the theme of Take a Step Forward. With the support of over 600 partner organisations, 350,000 people all around the country took a step forward – whether it was exploring business ideas, receiving some training or being inspired by a local role model. After the campaign, 89% of participants told us that they agreed or strongly agreed with the statement: “I feel more positive about the idea of entrepreneurship.”
